Everyday is an Adventure
I originally posted this on my side blog (which I put on private) back on June 19th. I’m planning to post some of the blogs here.
I’m going to stand on my soapbox. I dislike the notion that one must travel to a foreign country to have an adventure. You can have an adventure outside your front door, all you have to do is open your eyes to your surroundings— here’s a story.
Turkey Vulture ahead!
Around the end of May, I was driving around doing some chores. I was driving back home on a suburban road when suddenly, in the middle of the road, I saw a medium-sized black figure. I had a feeling it was a bird since I saw feathers. I stopped and tried to grab my phone, but the feathery figure flew onto a brick fence. I pulled over, rolled down my window, and began snapping photos of the bird. During my mini photoshoot with this mysterious bird, there were a few drivers that passed me by, one of whom was a man in a truck who gave me a confused look (to be fair, I was probably confusing the drivers on the road with my behavior). I got the photos I needed, and I opened the Merlin Bird app and uploaded the photo. It was a Turkey Vulture, a rare sight to see in my neck of the woods. If I didn’t care about my surroundings, I would have driven around it. You can find adventure by walking into your local town, going to a park, a restaurant, or even walking around the block! You don’t have to spend thousands of dollars on a ticket because that’s what society told you you have to do to find adventure or find yourself. As a person who’s been to five countries and 13 states, most of my memorable moments happened close by or with friends and family.
New bullet journal.
I started my new journal yesterday. Someone told me that I inspired them, and I needed to write it down.
